Tessa Donato Success in Translation

September 29, 2024

Tessa Donato grew up in a small town, Madelia, of Southern Minnesota. Always fascinated by the people she met when her parents took her on trips or when missionaries came to church, she dreamed of traveling and meeting people across the world one day. When she was 14 years old, she determined that she would have her own international business. Tessa studied Political Science and Spanish at Gustavus Adolphus College and Minnesota State University-Mankato, and graduated with a Bachelor of Science and a Bachelor of Art respectively. Tessa studied abroad at the Universidad de Alicante, Spain while living with a host family. She travels frequently and has been to Canada, England, Haiti, Mexico, and Puerto Rico and many states in the United States.

Shortly after her daughter was born in 2002, LinguaOne was birthed as well. Tessa collected dictionaries, glossaries, created her own list of terms she heard throughout her interpreting encounters to serve as tools for mastering the art of translation. She received translation requests for brochures, letters, birth and marriage certificates, school reports and records.

The Minnesota Department of Motor Vehicle often recommended her, and clients from the area and surrounding it sought her for services.

LinguaOne not only continued to grow via interpreting services for Mankato, but the demand for professional translation services throughout Minnesota as well. LinguaOne was a sponsor for the 2016 American Translator’s Association conference in Miami, Florida. There, Tessa met, and later, contracted many talented, highly skilled certified translators many whom have experience translating languages from Spanish to English for the United Nations and the United States federal government along with Chinese, French, and Arabic to English and 300+ languages.

Today, Tessa continues to successfully operate LinguaOne having over 300 interpreter and translators many whom are polyglots and multilingual professionals. Recently, she graduated with a Master of Science degree from the College of Science and Engineering, Technological Leadership Institute, University of Minnesota, Twin Cities. Currently, she is studying to become certified as a Microsoft Security Operations Analyst. Meanwhile, she continues to translate and interpret specializing in the educational, legal and technology fields and teaching cyber security classes to high school students.
