FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What’s on your mind?
The ADA requires effective communication with Deaf and hard-of-hearing people across healthcare, employment, education, and public services. In practice that means a qualified interpreter when the conversation is complex or consequential — a diagnosis, a legal proceeding, a job interview.
No. American Sign Language is a distinct language with its own grammar and word order, not English rendered in signs. That's why a qualified interpreter matters — someone who knows a few signs cannot carry a medical or legal conversation.
Forty-eight hours where possible, and more for long or specialized assignments. Certified ASL interpreters are in shorter supply than most spoken languages, so early booking makes a real difference.
Every ASL interpreter we assign is certified and matched to the setting, so a medical appointment gets someone experienced in clinical environments rather than general terminology. You can read more about our linguists on our About Us section.
We provide on-site interpreters throughout Minnesota, including Mankato, Minneapolis, St. Paul, Rochester, and surrounding communities. Video remote ASL is available anywhere in the U.S. Call 507-949-2353 to check coverage for your location.
Start on our service selection page, give us the date, location, and setting, and we'll confirm an interpreter and a price. For urgent requests, call 507-949-2353 and we'll check availability while you're on the line.
Yes. Forms, handouts, and instructions can be prepared in advance so nothing depends on interpreting alone. You can submit documents and get a quote through our order section.
Interpreting is billed hourly with a minimum booking, and long assignments needing two interpreters are quoted accordingly. You'll have a fixed price before the date. For more on how we schedule and price, see our FAQ section.
